Welcome to our community page.
Here you can find relevant info about the charities, groups and communities that we are currently supporting.
Rather than just list the organisations we're supporting with no other info we have broken down below just what each organisation does, and how the Zebra is helping. If you'd like to know more about our charity initiatives please call 0800 092 1985 or use the Contact Us page.
Blood Bikes is an emergency hospital courier service that transports blood from donation centres to hospitals. Many people believe that the NHS looks after things like this but this emergency service is actually all run by volunteers. In May 2011 Mike Burns and Paul Lowe embarked upon a 1200 mile journey starting in Newcastle with the intention of linking up the 24 NHS blood centres nationwide and finishing in Plymouth. All of this on bicycles!
They were joined on their route by various colleagues, volunteers and staff from Hotel du Vin, AXA and Rainbow Zebra. We donated the high vis jackets and our MD joined the route from Bristol to Southampton - covering roughly 100 miles (with diversions for 'tea stops' taken into account!).
Camps International Trust
We are working with the Camps International Trust in helping them send out volunteers to Kenya to help work on local projects that are of benefit to schools and the wider communty.
These projects include things like making sure water supplies are kept in good order, school facilities are improved upon and arranging community days such as sports festivals that give the local children a chance to experience things they would not normally do. More info can be found here.
Chew Valley Rugby Club
We have an ongoing sponsorship agreement with the u12's at Chew Valley Rugby Club just outside Bristol. We work in partnership with them and have donated towards kit and club training equipment to help the youngsters progress through the age groups, with the aim of making the first team. Match reports and further info on the club can be found here. We're very proud of this partnership and get down to watch matches as often as possible, even if the weather is sometimes against us!
Diving Diseases Research Centre
In October 2012 we cycled 130 miles over 2 days from Bristol to the DDRC in Plymouth. This was a great effot for all involved, not least due to the hills across Dartmoor!
Childrens Hospice Southwest
We have been offering our Vista Orthopaedic chair as our charity chair for the last 6 months. We recently made a donation of over £500 from the proceeds of sales of this chair. Thank you for your support!
